The Journey: Another Stop in The Road

Posted on Updated on

As I have not written on this site in some time, you may not know that I am no longer a collegiate athlete. After spending 4 years at the University of Central Arkansas, I did not return for my 5th and final year of eligibility.

IMG_1158.JPGThis decision was well thought out and talked about with those who are in my close circle. With that being said, in order to achieve my goals and further my playing career I had decided it was time for me to explore other programs.  As I had already graduated, I was free to attend any NCAA institution that recruited me of my choice. After a long and hard recruiting process, I chose Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. IMG_3316.JPGChoosing this school allowed me to go to a premier Division 2 program that not only contends every conference championship but produces pros, year in and year out. I chose to do this over playing at a mediocre Division 1 school and going through a rebuilding year just to be in Division 1. As a senior, I wanted to win and play a part in winning.

The decision was and will always be the right one. Although our year did not go as well as we planned, I was still able to meet great people, coaches, teammates and also get experience in leadership and different playing styles.IMG_2971.JPG

Upon conclusion of the season, I signed with an NBA and FIBA certified agent in my quest to play pro. From there I spent 2 months in the premier professional basketball league in Canada, the CEBL.  This was a great experience and it spring forwarded me to the Worldwide Invitational. The Worldwide Invitational is one of the most premier professional basketball showcases in all of the United States. This is events drafts only 72 athletes who have played professional or NCAA basketball in the last two years. The event will be featured at UNLV during the NBA summer league in which NBA, Overseas and NBA G League executives will be in attendance. For now, this is where my focus lies and what I will be training for. Where will I be in a year or two years? I do not yet know the answer to that question but stay tuned to find out!
